The NEA Gap Year Programme

Netherhall Educational Association (NEA) is a registered charity which aims to provide all-round formation to people of all ages, especially the young, to help them develop their talents to the full and use them in the service of society.

NEA runs a Gap Year Programme to offer university students opportunities worldwide to help out in different social activities on a non-profit basis. Most of our projects include accommodation and expenses. Occasionally a salary is provided.

We have a list of educational, medical, social and charitable institutions around the world who lack manpower or have specific needs to run their projects. NEA's role is to put young people in contact with these institutions.

There are two types of project:

Teaching abroad: including English language teaching and other subjects (Mathematics, Geology, History, Literature, Sports).

Volunteering abroad: including working in orphanages or caring for the elderly, training farmers.

Some projects are suitable for students taking a gap year before starting university, at age 18 or 19. Others are only open to those who have finished their studies and are age 21 or over.

Projects are further divided into Summer Projects (taking place between July and September), Winter Projects (running for a whole academic year, such as October to June or February to November depending on the country), and Continuous Projects (where students can go whenever it is convenient for them, usually for a flexible amount of time).
